Galapagos and Amazon River - Feb. 2018
Quito, Galapagos and the Amazon River at the Napo Wildlife Camp were a nature retreat. I started by flying into Quito for a three day visit to this Spanish colonial city built 9,300 ft. high on the Andes. I felt the impact of the thin air by being out of breath with the slightest exertion. The beauty of the mountain range was awesome. There I met Jake and Brian as we continued to the Galapagos and boarded the Santa Cruz 2 ship from Baltra and did a five night cruise of the western islands. Lots of sea lions, lizards, iguanas, blue footed boobies, crabs, birds, giant turtles and other wildlife. Just awesome! The next five days we went inland to the Amazon Rainforest in the Yasuni National Park, managed by the native Kichwa people. A fascinating adventure in the middle of the forest. As someone who usually goes for the museums this was an adventure in culture and nature.
